I am what many consider to be a "cradle privateer."

Both of my parents were international grad students at UNO when I was born. My very first residence was Laffite Village. Even though I do not have a lot of memories of my early years, these were captured through photographs. Many of my baby pics were taken around UNO campus, including Children’s Center (now home to International Center). UNO has changed a lot over the years. My parents and professors remember the days when UNO had twice the student population compared to now. My mom recalled that the campus was always busy, hardly quiet even during the weekends. Many remember how challenging it was to find parking, with some professors even bragging at the beginning of class how they managed to covet a parking spot.

Fast forward 20 something years later, I came back to UNO as a Master’s student in Urban Studies (graduated in December 2025). My work and studies were located in the now-shuttered Milneburg Hall. This was once home to the College of Business Administration (now moved to Kirschman), where my mom once studied for her Master’s in Accounting. It was a bit of bittersweet feeling being one of the final residents of Milenburg, in addition to one of the last cohorts to wear the blue and silver for graduation.
