“My first semester at UNO was fall of 2021, right when Hurricane Ida hit. It was quite a way to start the graduate program, but I was deeply impressed by how effectively and compassionately my professors handled the tremendous shake-up. I made some of my closest friends at UNO. We would while away our time in the Liberal Arts building, talking about film, literature, culture. The opportunity to receive my English MA and receive a full tuition waiver and stipend made all the difference for me and I wouldn’t have been able to attend graduate school otherwise. The incredible faculty prepared me well for my later studies as a PhD student. And the students I taught as a TA and later as an adjunct restored my faith in the coming generations. UNO is a special place and offers wonderful opportunities for the people of New Orleans. ”
